Paper Penrose – 2017

I created a paper version of the Penrose Triangle impossible object. I designed a flat 2D version in Illustrator and used a vinyl cutter to cut and score the designs on paper. The 2D sheets were brought to the event, where participants folded them into 3D impossible objects. This participatory activity was my gift for my friend’s birthday, which was based loosely on Akiyoshi Kitaoka, a Japanese psychologist who created a lot of op art who happened to be one of my earliest influences as an artist.
