Michael Dewberry and Pete Zawadzkas – Hearthbeat – 2013

Hearthbeat combines multiple Rubens’ tubes to show a flaming oscilloscope across many frequency bands simultaneously. Viewers can interact with the standing wave simulator by creating audio on a synthesizer or talking into a microphone embedded in a control center.

The project was funded by Figment First Night and was shown for the first time on new years eve 2013.

The installation was designed and fabricated by Michael Dewberry and Pete Zawadzkas.

I designed and machined out a black acrylic top for the control center, and in addition welded some feet to the bottom to adjust the height.
