Disrupt Progress – 2016

Disrupt Progress is an ongoing multi media project exploring the tensions between the natural world and the encroachment of technology.

I’m not trained as a painter, so I was both experimenting with increasing my painting skills and fleshing out the concept in preparation for building sculptural objects.

I made a modular planter box inside a computer monitor. I used the hydraulic shear and the brake to cut and bend a piece of sheet metal into precisely the right shape to fit into the monitor. The box containing the plants is a separate sheet metal box I made in a class. I attached magnets to the box so it could be moved around to any location on the sheet metal.
